Company takes Australian Made personally

Like many fencing professionals Neil Truett has an interesting working background that has ultimately led him to running a successful fencing business.

He came straight out of school into a panel beating job. He then went into manufacturing commercial furniture and later did a stint of boat building.
All in all it gave him a keen eye for product design and an appreciation of quality.

“My wife Rachel and I basically inherited D&D Technologies’ products when we bought Powder Kote Whitsundays Fencing in Airlie Beach 15 years ago.” says Neil. “But I looked at a MagnaLatch® and TruClose® Hinges and could see how superbly they functioned.”

Neil says Powder Kote Whitsundays has used virtually every product D&D offers – from LokkLatch® to Q-Bolt® and KwikFit® to Shut It®.

Says Neil: “Occasionally I see a fencing company installing a pool fence worth $5,000 and then try to save $5 by using an inferior alternative to the MagnaLatch®.  Do they ever consider how much it costs in time and hassles to go back and fix that inferior latch? It happens all the time. It’s at least half a day in lost time and other costs. Not smart.”

As far as D&D’s proprietary products being made in Australia, Neil Truett says he takes the Australian Made campaign personally. He says that with three sons coming into the workplace before too long he would like to know Australia can offer them a job in manufacturing. Neil and his son Isaac are even developing a handrail system that will be made entirely in Australia.
